What lies beyond
We took a walk in the Elan Valley a couple of weeks ago and we discovered a new track that led to a crossroads. One direction took a higher path through a wooded area and the other went parallel to the Dol-y-Mynach Reservoir below, the latter revealing a huge purple-pink block of colour provided by a stand of rosebay willow-herb flowers. That was all the prompting we needed.
This path was to reveal another treasure, as, about another half a mile along the track, we were able to access a fine view of Dol-y-Mynack dam, the only unfinished dam in the Elan Valley.
Within seconds of taking this shot we had to run for cover from the approaching rain!

Great composition, Gillian. Love the two-dimensional tree shapes, they work a treat!
Gillian, your art is just always so darned gorgeous, truly. I treasure my two pieces and one of these days, if I have a bit of extra money, I want another in this style too. The colors are just glorious!
These new works of yours just look like they were a blast to make—I sense a strong current of happy running through them!
Thank you Richard.
Sherry - you're always so supportive - thank you.
Laure - you're absolutely right - very intuintive of you. Its the first time I've felt true freedom in expressing myself.
Great work Gillian, I'm enjoying the new direction!
Love the way you handled the trees and I adore the dam.
Such beautiful colors! I love it!
I am really loving this new style.
I can't quite put my finger on what particularly appeals to me but the whole thing just works so well. As someone up there ^^ said, it's a happy painting.
love the contrast in scale... the far away trees in comparison to the closer ones. The stylization definitely works too...Great painting!
